The Portland Parks & Recreation Adopt-A-Bench program was established in the 1980s as an opportunity for community members to both honor their loved ones, as well as establish a trust fund dedicated to the maintenance of these benches and surrounding landscapes. Over the years, hundreds of benches have been adopted, some new ones have occasionally been installed, and all provide places to sit, reflect and remember. Our park system is better for them.
